Case Coordinator - Youth Corrections Unit Coordinator

Albany OR OAK CREEK YOUTH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a collaborative and motivated Youth Corrections Youth Coordinator Case Coordinator at the Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility to support the leadership and daily operations of a residential living unit while promoting a culture grounded in Positive Human Development. This position assists the Living Unit Manager (LUM) with staff leadership operational coordination and fostering a safe structured and supportive environment for youth and staff.

As a key member of the unit leadership team this role is responsible for youth case management duties including creating and maintaining JJIS Case Plans coordinating and facilitating multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and ensuring youth engagement in treatment programming in collaboration with the living unit QMHP and LUM. The Case Coordinator helps implement processes structures and work schedules that support staff engagement and effective unit operations and may provide direction in the absence of the LUM.

We are looking for candidates with strong communication and leadership skills who can effectively share pertinent information verbally and in writing build positive working relationships and support both youth and staff development. Experience with MDT facilitation case planning and JJIS is highly valued. Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Assist the Living Unit Manager (LUM) in developing and implementing procedures that promote effective staff engagement and positive interactions with youth.

  • Facilitate community groups one-on-one meetings primary time activities and other structured youth programming.

  • Provide case management services for youth assigned to the living unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in a behavioral science or related field; OR

  • Three years of experience observing evaluating and recording behavior and maintaining discipline of individuals in a program related to juvenile justice treatment programs or special education within an institution or residential living unit; OR

  • An associate degree from an accredited school in a behavioral science or equivalent training program with an emphasis on juvenile systems special education and/or secondary education AND one year experience working in a juvenile justice treatment or secondary education program.

Special Qualifications:

  • Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).

  • Ability to implement processes structures and work schedules that promote staff engagement and effective unit operations.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with both youth and staff including the ability to provide direction and operational support in the absence of the Living Unit Manager (LUM).

  • Experience coordinating and facilitating multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings case planning and working within the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively share pertinent information and foster communication among living unit staff.
