Department Overview
The Registered Nurse in the Center for Womens Health is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has the primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients at both our Marquam Hill and Hillsboro Medical Center campuses. This includes representing the practice both in person and on the telephone other OHSU departments and non OHSU facilities. This resource position will work on our fetal monitoring unit covering both our unit at Physicians Pavilion and at Hillsboro Medical Center. The Registered Nurse assesses patient and family needs develops a plan of care implements and evaluates the care delivered. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards core values and with a commitment to service excellence.
Function/Duties of Position
Ability to lift bend stoop reach carry push pull and walk throughout the work period.
- Able to lift 50 lbs independently. Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel.
- Must be able to use all senses: seeing hearing touching smelling and speaking. Reasonable accommodations include corrective lenses and/or hearing aids
- The work environment carries risk of exposure to human tissue/fluids and radiation
- Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers including making correct judgments regarding ensuring safe conditions for patients families and other personnel.
- Use of all hospital approved clinical equipment. Significant use of computers copiers multi-line phones and fax.
- Ability to type 50 wpm.
- Ability to work a 10-hour shift.
Required Qualifications
- Limited 3rd Trimester OB Ultrasound Certification
- 2 years experience in outpatient Antenatal Testing Unit or 5 years recent experience in Labor and Delivery
- NCC Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or intent to obtain certification within 3 months of hire
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- Apply for Washington RN license by the end of the orientation period
- BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.

Preferred Qualifications
BSN Nursing degre
1 year experience with limited 3rd trimester ultrasound experience
NCC Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring

Previous charge nurse or lead nurse position
5 years experience working in an Antenatal Testing Unit

Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
- Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
