Glassboro Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates in the capacity of an Elementary School Assistant Principal for the Dorothy L. Bullock School grades 1st to 5th grade. This position is responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL/MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
As a staff member of school management under the direct supervision of the Principal the Assistant Principal will be involved with the following: supervision and evaluation of staff; administering the approved master schedule; administering the attendance and discipline program of the school; arranging for all substitute teachers; coordinating the physical arrangements for special use of the school facilities; administering pupil progress reports and records; curriculum development; administering the extracurricular program excluding athletics; and managing the daily operation of the school. The authority and responsibility of the Assistant Principal extends to all teachers and pupils in the areas of instruction scheduling attendance discipline extracurricular activities substitute teachers coordination of physical arrangement for use of facilities pupil progress recording follow-up on approved budget items and any other areas assigned to him by the Principal.
AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
Operation
Under the direction of the Principal the Assistant Principal will be responsible for the following:
- Lead and oversee all investigations related to New Jersey Department of Education Harassment Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) reports in accordance with district policy and state regulations.
- Serve as the schools HIB designee ensuring timely documentation communication and follow-up for all reported incidents.
- Collaborate with teachers counselors families and support staff to promote a safe inclusive and respectful school climate.
- Monitor compliance with state and district HIB procedures timelines and reporting requirements.
- Analyze student behavior and climate data to identify trends and implement proactive intervention strategies.
- Facilitate restorative practices conflict resolution and student support plans following behavioral incidents.
- Provide professional development and guidance to staff on bullying prevention student behavior supports trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of schoolwide positive behavior initiatives and student discipline procedures.
- Support student attendance supervision and overall school operations during arrival dismissal lunch recess and special events.
- Partner with families and community agencies to support student wellness safety and academic success.
- Participate in crisis response threat assessment and safety planning as part of the school leadership team.
- Maintain confidential student records and prepare reports related to discipline investigations and school climate initiatives.
- Support the principal in teacher supervision evaluations instructional leadership and school improvement planning.
- Promote equity cultural responsiveness and positive relationship-building throughout the school community.
Assuming all duties of the Principal in his or her absence and all other duties as delegated from time to time by the Principal.
Directing the daily management of the school as it functions within approved schedules and policies.
Assisting the Principal and staff to develop goals for the school.
Working with the Principal and staff in continued curriculum development.
- Co-chair on school committees
Organization
Assisting the Principal in organizing and staffing the building to carry out assigned responsibilities and programs. Assisting the Principal in the organization and operation of teacher in-service programs including summer workshops.
Personnel
- Making all arrangements for substitute teachers including absences for field trips and personal emergencies which require help for part of the day.
- Assisting the Principal in the evaluation and supervision of the staff.
Financial
Assisting the Principal in the preparation of the building budget and in the conduct of school activities within budgetary limits.
RELATIONSHIPS
Principal
The Assistant Principal is under the supervision of and accountable to the Principal.
Others
The Assistant Principal shall cooperate with other staff administrators in the proper performance of their assignments.
Teachers
The Assistant Principal shall have authority over the teachers in the areas of his/her assigned responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a ten (10.5) month position with salary and contract terms to be negotiated with the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of personnel.
