JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide activities to restore maintain or improve functional skills and to improve students abilities to achieve in the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS: Currently licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) and meet state licensure requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer occupational therapy standardized tests/procedures following demonstration of competence under the direction of the Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR).
- Use activities materials and equipment related to occupational therapy.
- Implement the goals and recommend activities provided in the occupational therapy section of the students Individual Educational Plans (IEP).
- Provide documentation of students progress in occupational therapy programs on a regular basis communicating data to the OTR and completing required documentation.
- Share therapy activities with students teachers families and others involved with the students to allow programs to be continued outside the classroom.
- Utilize and maintain occupational therapy equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for students and staff.
- Inventory and determine needs for equipment and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Nine-month position beginning salary level 39 employee benefits in accordance with Board position is considered EXEMPT from the requirements of hourly employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
