- Makes repairs on all equipment and vehicles; makes on-the-road repairs.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on department vehicles and equipment.
- Performs road tests on equipment.
- Performs welding duties and fabricates materials to fit.
- Orders and picks-up parts and records and files reports on equipment and machines repaired.
- Instructs mechanic helpers.
- Held accountable for equipment used and uniforms issued.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years of related experience as a Mechanic (or Mechanic Helper).
- Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair or certification in different fields of mechanical training.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees and elected officials.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
