Job Summary
Job Summary: Cloud/DevOps Engineer (Project 2026-1135 CalPERS Sacramento CA)
- Serve as a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) in application architecture monitoring and DevOps/Platform Engineering for both on-premises and cloud (AWS/Azure) systems.
- Mentor and support ARTS team members to enhance their technical analytical and functional skills.
- Design analyze troubleshoot review and document application subsystems supported by the ARTS unit.
- Act as a technical SME for complex projects or collaborate on projects with broad scope and complexity.
- Ensure all work aligns with CalPERS IT Services Branch (ITSB) policies standards and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend upgrades and architectural enhancements for existing applications.
- Assess current CI/CD infrastructure monitoring and security; identify gaps risks and technical debt.
- Develop a prioritized roadmap for improvements including automation refactoring and security/compliance upgrades.
- Implement approved changes such as CI/CD pipeline enhancements improved observability secrets management vulnerability scanning and access controls.
- Optimize cloud applications for scaling cost and backup/recovery.
- Produce and deliver technical documentation best practices and process guides.
- Facilitate ongoing knowledge transfer and training to ensure state personnel can maintain and build on the delivered solutions.
- Submit monthly written status reports and participate in regular knowledge transfer sessions.
- Comply with all contractual deliverables and reporting requirements throughout the engagement.
