Job Summary

Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (Overage & On-Call)
Location: Mike OCallaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) Nellis AFB NV 89191
Tentative Start Date: 27 Sep 2026
No. of FTEs Required: 2 FTE
Work Schedule: Monday Friday between. Shifts are normally scheduled for a 10-hour period including an uncompensated 30-minute lunch break with flexible 8- 10- or 12-hour shifts based on workload and patient care requirements. Contract workers will not exceed 40 scheduled hours per week. Includes on-call and overage requirements. May work federal holidays while on-call.
On-Call Requirements
On-call coverage is required on an as-needed basis with a 30-minute response time to the facility:
  • Monday Friday:
  • Saturday Sunday and holidays: 24-hour coverage (0)
  • Estimated on-call requirement: 1800 hours per FTE annually
Overage Requirements: Overage hours begin at 50 hours per FTE and may not exceed 120 hours per FTE annually. Contract workers may be required to report in person to the MTF during on-call periods.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Cardiovascular Technologist Certification (RCVT) program.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of professional Cardiac Catheterization experience.
    • Must have worked full-time (greater than 36 hours per week) as a professional Cardiac Catheterization Technologist for at least 30 months within the last 36 months.
    • Experience supporting invasive cardiovascular procedures in a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
  • License/Certification:
    • Required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • Required Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical support within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Interventional Radiology Cath Lab and vascular surgery angiography-based procedure areas.
  • Prepare cardiac catheterization laboratories and procedural suites for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Assist cardiologists and procedural physicians during invasive cardiac and vascular procedures.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and identify abnormal findings or life-threatening conditions requiring intervention.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications under physician direction including sedatives vasoactive agents thrombolytics antidysrhythmic antihypertensives narcotics neuromuscular blockade agents and emergency medications within scope of practice.
  • Assess and document patient responses to medications and treatments and notify physicians of adverse findings.
  • Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient assessments and education activities.
  • Educate patients regarding cardiac catheterization and diagnostic cardiac testing procedures.
  • Carry out physician orders and document care activities within the electronic medical record in accordance with MTF standards.
  • Maintain Cath Lab supplies equipment readiness inventory controls and housekeeping functions.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance cleaning and operational readiness of equipment and procedural areas.
  • Participate in orientation and training of newly assigned cardiac catheterization personnel.
  • Support Interventional Radiology Vascular Surgery PACU Gastroenterology and other cardiopulmonary service areas as directed.
  • Serve as shift lead technologist when assigned and coordinate Cath lab operational readiness activities.
  • Float to other MTF clinical areas within scope of practice as directed by leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control patient safety regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain professional communication and coordination with providers nursing staff and ancillary personnel.
  • Respond to after-hours callback and emergency procedures within established response timelines.
