Job Title: Controls / BMS Engineer
Location: Anderson South Carolina (Onsite)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Job Summary
The Controls/BMS Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of Facility Management Systems (FMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) for data centers and critical infrastructure environments. This includes controls design for general and emergency lighting systems switchgear standby generators MV/LV distribution systems UPS systems battery cabinets door access control and CCTV systems.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams integration facilities contractors and vendors to develop detailed control system designs and support projects from pre-sales through commissioning. This role also involves developing riser diagrams I/O tables sequence of operations and programming parameters for BMS platforms.
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Design
- Design Facility Management Systems (FMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) for data centers telecommunications facilities switching centers and critical infrastructure projects.
- Develop riser diagrams Input/Output (I/O) tables control narratives and sequence of operations documentation.
- Create detailed schematic designs detailed designs and construction drawing packages for BMS/FMS systems.
- Design control systems for:
- General and emergency lighting
- Switchgear and power distribution systems
- Standby generators
- UPS systems and battery cabinets
- Access control and CCTV systems
- Ensure all designs meet project specifications quality standards and budget requirements.
System Integration & Coordination
- Coordinate with third-party suppliers and integration partners to develop control schemes using PLCs and relay logic.
- Support module integration facilities with detailed engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with Electrical Mechanical Thermal Architectural and Construction teams during project execution.
- Review and approve BMS/FMS product submittals and technical documentation.
- Support on-site integration activities and system troubleshooting.
Technical Support & Commissioning
- Provide technical support during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities.
- Work with commissioning teams to validate installation operation and performance of BMS/FMS systems.
- Travel to project sites for field reviews engineering evaluations audits and startup support as required.
Project & Quality Management
- Generate Bills of Material (BOM) and modify standard assemblies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local building codes and standards.
- Maintain quality control during system integration and installation.
- Support project scope definition and technical evaluations throughout project lifecycle.
- Provide innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions without compromising quality or reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 4 years of Controls Engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of FMS/BMS design concepts installation and commissioning.
- Experience with Ethernet communication protocols including:
- Modbus
- SNMP
- TCP/IP
- RS-485
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret modular construction drawings and equipment specifications.
- Experience interpreting customer technical specifications and requirements.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in data center infrastructure and mission-critical facilities.
- Knowledge of local state and federal codes related to BMS/FMS systems and controls engineering.
