Job Summary

This is a rare seat: a Senior Accountant role inside a global publicly-parented technology manufacturer where the job is genuinely yours to shape. The core is high-visibility cross-border consolidation and payroll reconciliation work spanning North America EMEA and Latin America -and beyond that core the hiring leader will hand you whatever you want to grow into from EMEA revenue recognition to inventory analysis. You report directly to the leader of the Kitchener accounting function work shoulder-to-shoulder with a US-based corporate controller and step into a team where people build entire careers.

COMPANY:

  • Global technology manufacturer
  • Roughly 1050 employees globally across 17 locations; the business operates multi-entity multi-currency and multi-region
  • Privately held and wholly owned by a publicly traded parent company based in Japan; the Kitchener entitys reporting rolls up into that parents consolidated public reporting
  • Coming off a strong commercial pivot: a multi-year defence-sector contract (military flight-simulation environments) now sits alongside the companys established cinema and entertainment business with secured work for the next five years

PACKAGE:

  • Base salary $85000 to $95000
  • Defined-contribution pension plan with employer match up to 4%
  • Group benefits: blended health and dental travel insurance and short-term disability
  • 4 weeks vacation plus a paid holiday shutdown and a paid birthday day off -roughly four and a half weeks off in total
  • Genuine work-life balance: a normal work week with only modest extra hours around month quarter and year-end
  • HYBRID - 3 days in office

ADVANTAGES:
  • Build-your-own role. The core is defined but lean and the hiring leader will hand you scope to match your interests -revenue recognition inventory analysis process work -so you grow in the direction you choose.
  • Cross-border exposure. You own consolidation and payroll reconciliation across North America EMEA and Latin America the kind of multi-entity multi-currency complexity most accountants never get near.
  • Public-company complexity varied book of work. Product service and project revenue across companies of very different sizes means you see both the small picture and the big picture and you work directly with external auditors at every quarter.
  • Real work-life balance. A normal work week three set in-office days with genuine day-to-day flexibility four-plus weeks off and a leader who is openly accommodating on scheduling.
  • Surrounded by people you learn from. A stable long-tenured team and a US-based corporate controller you partner with directly on consolidation -this is a place people join early and retire from.
  • Process-improvement runway. A mature business with disparate systems and clear room to streamline -if you like solving problems and building efficiency there is visible territory to make your mark.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This role backfills a long-tenured team member who retired. It reports directly to the leader of the Kitchener accounting services function (the controllership group that closes the books for North America and EMEA) and sits on a team of roughly ten. It is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports.

Core responsibilities:

  • Own inter-company reconciliation across all entities each close - ensuring inter-company balances are reconciled and elimination entries are prepared for consolidation (roughly the first week of each month-end)
  • Validate and reconcile payroll: review payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts across the US Canada EMEA and a smaller Latin America entity (the role validates payroll it does not prepare it)
  • Partner day-to-day with the hiring leader and with the US-based corporate controller specifically on elimination and consolidation matters
  • Coordinate directly with the payroll department on any discrepancies and work cross-functionally beyond accounting
  • Build-your-own scope -chosen with the hiring leader based on your interests:
  • Revenue recognition for one or more EMEA entities starting with a smaller company and progressing to larger more complex ones
  • Inventory provision analysis and transit reconciliation
  • Process improvement: a mature organization with real opportunity to streamline processes across disparate systems and bring efficiency
  • Note on the companys work: the company holds defence-sector contracts including military flight-simulation work. This role does not work directly on those projects but the company discloses this so candidates can make an informed decision before applying.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The hiring leaders real concern is the gap between someone who has only ever worked in a small private company and the complexity of a publicly-parented multi-entity global business. The bullseye candidate has lived in that complexity already.

  • CPA designation (this is a must-have)
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience; the search may flex toward three to five years for a candidate who is clearly strong and brings the right environment fit
  • Experience working inside a publicly traded company
  • Hands-on experience with multi-currency and multi-entity accounting at a larger company -not small single-currency local books
  • Strong inter-company reconciliation and consolidation/elimination experience
  • A team player who is highly organized knows how to prioritize and builds relationships easily across departments and across borders -the team works in an open approachable collaborative space and this person interacts widely
  • Comfortable jumping in where needed in a collaborative not heavily structured environment
  • Genuinely motivated by learning and variety -this person will be happiest if they want to grow into new areas rather than do one narrow task

Nice to have not required:

  • Manufacturing or inventory experience (costing is managed offshore so costing depth is a bonus rather than a need)
  • Public Accounting firm experience
  • Comfort with AI tools and an appetite to apply technology to accounting processes
  • A note on ambition and pace: there is a real growth path here - assistant manager manager senior manager -but progression is earned over time not in two years. The right candidate is ambitious about the breadth of work in front of them and patient about title.
