GCP Cloud Architect Platform Engineer

Position Description:

We are Canadas largest independent information technology services firm and after 45 years were still growing! Join Canadas largest IT Company as a GCP Architect / Platform Engineer in our Banking Services Division.

Seeking a senior GCP Architect / Platform Engineer with strong experience in cloud-native modernization Kubernetes Istio and SRE practices to support a large-scale enterprise modernization initiative.

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Own the endtoend architecture for mobilefirst digital platforms.
Design and evolve cloudnative containerized solutions with a strong focus on GCP and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Define architecture standards and patterns for:
oMobile applications and backend APIs
oMicroservices and container platforms
oScalability availability and resiliency
Architect and contribute handson to mobile applications (iOS Android React Native).
Design and build backend services and APIs using Java and .
Build and operate Kubernetesbased platforms including networking ingress scaling and deployment strategies.
Own infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Drive CI/CD DevOps and production readiness for mobile and platform workloads.
Collaborate closely with developers platform teams SRE and security partners.
Lead design and code reviews mentor engineers and share best practices.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Digital Delivery Practices technical direction.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

8 years solution architecture cloud engineering or cloud-native delivery
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform(GCP including: compute/container services; Networking; IAM/security controls; Storage/managed services; CI/CD and deployment tooling
Deep experience with Kubernetes; preferable GKE
Highly skilled in Java application development and modernization
Must have designed and supported REST APIs/microservices architectures
Experience working with Android and IOS mobile application delivery
Experience with DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices
Able to lead and influence a team
Deep expertise with Kubernetes and Istio service mesh in production environments
Experience with Spring Boot modernization and Java upgrades
Strong SRE/DevOps background including monitoring logging and production support
Experience with Terraform Helm CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architecture
Experience with enterprise-scale microservices environments
Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus Grafana and OpenTelemetry
Experience leading large modernization or migration programs

**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115000$165000. This role is an existing vacancy.
