Job Summary
This role is an inoffice position (5 days per week) based at our 20 Bay St. location. Our team is highly collaborative and much of our work benefits from inperson cocreation relationshipbuilding and handson partnership with leaders across the organization. We offer flexibility in start and end times while maintaining core business hours for shared availability across the team.
PRESTO is an electronic transit fare payment system in the Greater Toronto Hamilton and Ottawa areas that eliminates the need for tickets passes and cash. PRESTO serves more than 5 million customers across 11 transit agencies and processes over $2.5 billion in fares through 67 million boardings per month (pre-pandemic). Today PRESTO offers one of the most globally advanced fare payment systems in the world having delivered new ways to pay for customers including real time PRESTO Contactless with credit and Interac debit and PRESTO in Mobile Wallet across its transit agency clients including the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Enhancing the customer experience through continuous improvement while working with our transit agency clients to support their needs and maintaining a system that performs exceptionally continue to drive PRESTO toward making transit better for all.
Our Payments (PRESTO) Business Intelligence Office is looking to hire a Senior BI Performance Analyst to play a key role in the development of PRESTOs Business Intelligence (BI) platform by conducting or participating in analytics projects to enhance understanding of business activity deliver actionable insights into operational and financial areas and provide reports that meet the needs of PRESTO operations management executives and client Transit Agencies. This position reports into the Sr. Manager Business Intelligence.
- Conducting or participating in analytics projects which enhance PRESTOs understanding of business activity deliver actionable insights into operational and financial areas.
- Designing and developing reporting tools to allow customers to make informed business decisions and facilitate usage growth and improved support to transit agencies.
- Interfacing with customers (Transit Agencies and Metrolinx) to understand current and future needs for reporting capabilities and to provide insight into ridership and device behavior.
- Supporting self-serve capabilities of the BI system and the training of BI users and power users.
- Adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity test design analysis validation and documentation.
- Performing analysis using all available data (BI other internal financial and non-financial data as well as external data) to identify performance improvement revenue completeness transit service provider settlement acceleration and cost savings opportunities.
- Support the design and delivery of automated standardized and self-serve BI solutions that reduce manual reporting improve data quality and enable scalable efficient access to insights across the business.
- Developing advanced analytical solutions including predictive trend segmentation and anomaly detection analyses to proactively identify operational risks customer behavior patterns revenue leakage and service improvement opportunities.
- Leading root cause analysis and data investigations related to operational incidents transaction anomalies customer trends device performance and settlement or reconciliation discrepancies.
- Driving continuous improvement and modernization of BI capabilities through automation dashboard optimization data visualization best practices and implementation of scalable reporting architectures.
- Designing and optimizing enterprise-grade data models KPI frameworks and semantic layers to ensure consistent scalable and trusted reporting across operational financial customer and executive dashboards.
- Completion of a diploma in a related discipline (Statistics Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Analytics) or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Experience using Azure analytics and data platforms such as Azure Synapse Analytics Azure Databricks Azure Data Factory (ADF) Azure SQL Azure Data Lake and Power BI to support enterprise reporting advanced analytics data integration and scalable BI solutions
- Demonstrated work experience in advanced analytics business intelligence statistical modeling/analysis data engineering and/or data warehousing and solving complex quantitative business challenges.
- Experience with using and generating reports from Business Intelligence (BI) systems
- Analysis and problem-solving skills to analyze trends card usage system performance and develop actionable recommendations to support Transit Agencies ability to make informed business decisions that facilitate usage and overall service growth for the PRESTO fare card
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and familiarity with BI tools for both query and visualization (i.e. SQL Python Power BI Power Automate etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build positive productive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.
