Description of Work
The Electronics Engineer (Engineer II) role provides specialized engineering support for the planning design project management and installation of complex electronic control systems across State prisons and non prison facilities. Working under the Electronics Controls Supervisor the position supports new construction renovations and major maintenance efforts by applying technical expertise in systems such as PLC based door controls surveillance and detection systems intrusion systems and related infrastructure. The role operates in close collaboration with internal design construction and maintenance teams as well as external design and construction partners to deliver reliable code compliant solutions and serve as a key technical resource for troubleshooting and system evaluation.Key Duties Include:
Leading planning design and technical development of electronic control systems for new and existing facilities.
Managing projects involving installation renovation and integration of PLC based door controls surveillance and detection systems.
Preparing engineering documents including plans specifications estimates and technical assessments.
Conducting field investigations to evaluate system performance identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinating with in house design disciplines construction units and external contractors to support project delivery.
Providing top tier technical consultation and troubleshooting support to regional and institutional maintenance personnel.
Supporting system commissioning testing and quality assurance activities to ensure operational readiness.
Overseeing or contributing to panel construction equipment installation and configuration of IP based cameras and servers.
This position requires the daily commute to DECMs Office Complex off Yonkers Road in Raleigh NC. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday Friday and may require some weekend work to meet the demands of the organization. This position is NOT expected to be Hybrid or Remote work eligible

Salary Grade Range: $63927.00-$111871.00

- Demonstrated experience with IP-based surveillance systems programming IP cameras and/or connecting to storage systems.
- Demonstrated advanced-level knowledge of electronic principles devices and/or systems.
- Demonstrated advanced-level knowledge of PLC / HMI / SCADA based detention system controls.
- Demonstrated experience with the principles practices and theories of electronic intrusion fence systems (EIS) door control systems and/or video surveillance systems.
- Demonstrated experience with ethernet networking principles computers and/or servers.
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD or other graphical computer automated design software.
- Demonstrated abilities in troubleshooting complex issues with computers servers or electronic equipment in person remotely connected or over the phone

The Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) coordinates all North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) construction and renovation efforts working closely with the State Construction Office to bring projects to life. We represent the department on key property and building matters while keeping facilities running smoothly through expert support for mechanical electrical kitchen and other essential systems. The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative Electronics Engineer (Engineer II) to be a part of the DECM-Engineering Electronics Controls Team. This position has a duty station at the DECM Office Complex off Yonkers Road in Raleigh NC and will be tasked with applying electronics-based knowledge forward-thinking direction and overall project management.
