Lanes Group Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team. This role is key to driving commercial best practice across our utilities frameworks and depot network operations helping to maximise value while minimising risk and cost.
Working within the fast-paced drainage and utilities sector you will bring innovative problem-solving skills and the confidence to negotiate effectively across multiple stakeholders. This is a varied role with a broad portfolio offering exposure across the UK and occasional travel. This is an opportunity that can be based out of Manchester or Leeds.

Key Accountabilities
- Accurately value completed works and maintain robust supporting records
- Manage change control processes across main and subcontractor contracts
- Maintain strong client relationships at contract level
- Review and improve commercial processes and recommend enhancements
- Ensure full understanding and application of contractual terms
- Maximise recovery of contractual entitlements
- Use performance data to identify commercial opportunities and improvements
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day commercial and contractual support to operational teams
- Ensure effective contract administration including cost/value control and record-keeping
- Prepare and submit applications for payment within contractual timescales
- Manage early warnings variations and change processes to maximise entitlement
- Produce financial reports and collaborate with operational teams to drive commercial awareness
- Support development of team members within the commercial department
- Manage subcontract accounts
- Undertake travel across UK sites including occasional overnight stays
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
- Minimum 5 years experience in utilities or civils (desirable)
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Solid understanding of contracts and contract management
- Ability to balance strong client relationships with commercial performance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office knowledge
Qualifications
- HNC in Quantity Surveying (or similar) essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar) advantageous
