Instructional Developer
Position Summary:
Create engaging learner-centered eLearning experiences that help users adopt athenahealth products and workflows. This role is remote-based in India and reports to the Instructional Technologist Manager. This role requires NA% travel annually.

We are looking for an Instructional Developer to join our Virtual Training and Design Team and help make that mission a reality.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develop interactive eLearning modules and microlearning assets using Articulate 360 and standard authoring practices.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Camtasia.
- Translate instructional design briefs and product requirements into detailed storyboards and scripts.
- Produce multimedia elements (audio narration visuals simple animations) or coordinate with designers to include them in courses.
- Conduct content reviews and quality assurance checks for accuracy usability and accessibility before publishing.
- Publish and maintain courses in the LMS manage versioning and ensure metadata and enrollment settings are correct.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts instructional designers and product owners to validate content and learning objectives.
- Analyze learner feedback and basic usage metrics to recommend improvements and update content accordingly.
- Apply instructional best practices and learning science principles to create assessments and practice activities that reinforce skill transfer.
- Use AI-assisted authoring tools and workflows to speed outline generation draft content or suggest improvements; verify and edit AI outputs to ensure instructional soundness and accuracy.
- Document authoring standards templates and process steps to support consistent production and handoffs across the team.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Support live virtual sessions or webinars as a co-facilitator or technical host when needed.
- Assist with basic multimedia editing (audio cleanup image cropping) to finalize assets for courses.
- Help maintain a content library of reusable templates interactions and graphics.
- Participate in pilot projects for new authoring tools or learning formats and report operational impacts.
- Provide occasional troubleshooting support for learners encountering course playback or access issues.
- Contribute to peer reviews and share best practices within the Virtual Training and Design Team.
Expected Education & Experience:
- 24 years of professional experience in instructional design eLearning development or a related role.
- Hands-on experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline Rise) Adobe Creative Suite and Camtasia and familiarity with common eLearning interactions and templates.
- Practical knowledge of instructional design principles learning objectives and assessment design.
- Experience publishing and managing content in an LMS and understanding of SCORM/xAPI standards.
- Basic multimedia skills (audio recording/editing image handling) and familiarity with asset preparation for web delivery.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to work with SMEs to clarify technical content.
- Bachelors degree in Instructional Design Education Communications or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
