Summary
POSITION INFORMATION
Position summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) in an Ambulatory Wound Center is an unlicensed clinical team member who provides supportive patient care services under the direct delegation and supervision of a licensed provider (MD DO NP PA etc.). The MA supports wound center operations by performing delegated clinical tasks assisting with procedures collecting patient data administering select treatments and competency validation and signed provider orders. Medical Assistants do not perform assessments triage clinical decision making or invasive wound procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school graduate minimum required.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program
- Certified or non-certified Medical Assistants permitted per organizational policy
- Medical terminology required.
Required length and type of experience:
- Externship of at least 100 hours or 6 months previous office/OP setting experience preferred.
- Ability to work under provider delegation in an outpatient ambulatory setting
- Knowledge of infection control sterile technique and wound care support tasks
- Ability to follow exact unchanging provider instructions and organizational policies
- Able to perform computer entry and basic office computer skills.
Required licensure certification or registry:
- Medical Assisting certificate preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification
