POSITION TITLE: Electrician Foreman

REPORTS: Maintenance Department
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
Primary Purpose
Supervise and direct the daily activities of the electrical maintenance staff. Maintain repair and install electrical systems services and equipment. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) journeyman electrician license
Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) master electrician license preferred
Valid Texas drivers license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of electrical circuits wiring and operating principles of motors
Knowledge of local electrical codes and ordinances
Ability to read blueprints schematics and written reference material
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Experience
Four years experience in electrical field; clear driving record
Major Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair
- Supervise the completion of electrical projects.
- Receive and complete work orders.
- Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures power equipment and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code manuals specifications schematics and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus including motors relays switches thermostats and circuit-breaker panels.
- Install and connect power supply wiring cables conduit and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams schematics or blueprints.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits systems and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
- Measure cut bend thread assemble and install electrical conduit using rulers measuring devices hand tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
- Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances including commercial ovens ranges steam tables washers and dryers.
- Select materials and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Detect needed repairs on building grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Assist in repair of security and fire alarm systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods equipment performance and quality of product.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Interpret specifications and job orders for other electricians as needed.
- Work irregular hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Personnel Management
- Supervise the daily work of assigned staff.
- Analyze and resolve work issues and assist workers in solving work problems.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Interpret District policies and procedures to workers and enforce safety regulations.
Records and Inventory
- Maintain accurate records of materials labor and production.
- Maintain inventory of District-owned tools equipment and materials.
- Ensure employees follow timekeeping procedures for accurate payroll records.
Safety
- Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor.
- Interpret District policies and procedures to workers and enforce safety regulations.

- Participate in professional learning training programs staff meetings and special events as assigned.
Communication
- Observe the standards of conduct for employees and comply with department and District procedures and policies.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of departments.
