Job Title: Principal High School FLSA Status: Exempt 226 daysReports To: Executive Director of School LeadershipPay Grade: AD-9Department: Campus Administration Date Revised: 4/17/2023Primary Purpose:Provide instructional leadership in order to ensure students learn the essential academic knowledge and skills and grow in the Journey of a Graduate competencies. Responsible for establishing and implementing a shared vision and culture of high expectations for students and staff. Identify focus for campus improvement inspire/lead change effectively and create a purposeful community engaged in actions toward the achievement of the District vision. Provide leadership for effective and efficient operational processes and systems aligned with District values and beliefs. Establish strong partnerships with stakeholders in support of exceptionallearning experiences for each and every student.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Masters Degree in educational administration or curriculum and instructionTexas principal or other appropriate Texas certificateTexas teaching certificateCertified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/SkillsWorking knowledge of curriculum instructional design and assessment best practicesAbility to effectively lead changeAbility to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectivenessAbility to align actions and behaviors to District values and beliefsAbility to ensure effective instructional design maximizes student growthAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to coordinate campus functionsAbility to implement policy and proceduresAbility to interpret data and identify areas of focus for improvementAbility to organize communicate using a variety of mediums communicationAbility to build strong stakeholder relationshipsExperience:Three (3) years experience as a classroom teacherExperience as a secondary assistant or associate principalDemonstrated experience with instructional leadership rolesExperience as lead principal of a large comprehensive high school preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional Leadership1. Provide instructional leadership to ensure each and every student experiences exceptional learning that is rigorous designed for high levels of engagement and supports the growth of the Journey of a Graduate competencies.2. Implement high-quality instructional practices that improve student performance.3. Implement a rigorous curriculum and assessments aligned with state standards.4. Monitor multiple forms of student data to inform instructional and intervention decisions.5. Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.6. Evaluate and recommend improvements in the purpose design and implementation of instructional programs aligned to the District vision values and goals.7. Lead change through cultivating buy-in developing an effective implementation plan monitor and evaluate the plans and make necessary changes.School / Organizational Climate8. Develop and implement a shared vision of high expectations for students and staff.9. Establish and monitor clear expectations for adults and student conduct.10. Foster collegiality and team-building among staff members; encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.11. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from staff and students in a supportive manner; provide recognition of excellence and achievement.12. Facilitate the effective and timely resolution of conflicts.13. Maintain a solution-oriented mindset by treating challenges as opportunities.14. Establish and maintain a positive caring environment in which students and staff feel safe valued supported and challenged to grow.15. Communicate effectively with students staff parents and community members; actively involve the staff and other stakeholders in planning and decision-making activities.School / Organizational Improvement16. Ensure the efficient collaboration and supervision of all departments on campus including special education career and technical education (CTE) and athletics.17. Develop and build a common vision with staff for school improvement; implement programs collaboratively to ensure attainment of the Districts vision.18. Stay current in instructional and leadership best practices in order to facilitate school improvement and ensure the growth of each and every student.19. Develop annual campus performance objectives aligned to District goals using the campus planning process and site-based decision making committee.Personnel Management20. Ensure school is staffed with high-quality teachers and staff through the use of effective hiring practices aligned to District values and beliefs.21. Provide effective professional learning for each and every staff member in support of District World-class competencies.22. Conduct regular classroom observations provide actionable formative and summative feedback and coaching to staff.23. Effectively communicate staff effectiveness data in compliance with laws and District policies in formative and summative evaluation conferences.24. Make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement transfer retention and dismissal.25. Implement effective collaborative team structures for staff.26. Establish expectations for high quality staff performance regarding instructional design and facilitation of best practices classroom management and communication with stakeholders.27. Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and accomplish improvement goals.Administration and Fiscal / Facilities Management28. Develop budgets based upon documented program needs estimated enrollment personnel and other fiscal needs; allocate fiscal resources to achieve specific objectives aligned to the campus improvement plan.29. Implement programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal control; and accurately report fiscal information.30. Manage and supervise all school facilities effectively; efficiently supervise campus maintenance to ensure clean orderly and safe buildings and grounds.31. Effectively schedule activities and resources in order to accomplish campus goals; monitor the use care and replacement of capital equipment.Student Management32. Work with faculty and students to develop a discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.33. Effectively develop and communicate guidelines for behavior and conduct to students staff and parents.34. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that consequences for misconduct are applied equitably to all students in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and district consistency guidelines.35. Effectively conduct conferences with parents students and teachers concerning school and student issues conveying both positive aspects of student behavior as well as areas for growth.36. Review student data initiate updates and report accurate information; ensure accurate designation of codes related to withdrawn and active students.Professional Growth and Development37. Use information and insights gained through professional development activities the District appraisal process and evaluative feedback from supervisors to improve performance.38. Strive to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities (i.e. undertaking professional reading attending conferences etc.).39. Provide leadership in addressing challenging issues facing the profession; disseminate ideas and information to other professionals for their growth and development.40. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics.School / Community Relations41. Articulate the schools mission and campus plan to the community and solicit their support in achieving the goals of the campus.42. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.43. Demonstrate the use of appropriate techniques to encourage community and parent involvement; emphasize two-way communication between the school and community.44.
