WSH is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. Western State Hospital is seeking an Emergency Coordinator part time to be a communication center for Western State Hospital; provide positive customer service and service recovery to other WSH team members to clients and their family and friends and to the community at large all day and every day (24/7/365); assist individuals in getting to places within the hospital or get the answers to their questions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality with client and employee personal information; share vital information with our Hospital Leadership Medical Nursing Maintenance Public Safety teams and local emergency responders (ambulance fire and law enforcement) during fire alarms medical emergencies and other emergency incidents; and manage access to the hospital for staff visitors and clients.

Key responsibilities:

- Provide positive customer service and service recovery interactions for the hospital that disseminates routine and emergency incident information provides access control assistance and initial or follow-up direction to employees patients visitors contractors public safety and government officials etc.
- Provide routine and emergency operational communication services via phone two-way radio overhead pages e-mail fax and pagers etc. to assist in the coordination of routine heightened sensitivity situations and emergency response efforts
- Provide after hours weekends and holiday assistance in the patient admission/discharge
- Provide access control program management
- Provide administrative and record keeping services for the Information Center


Minimum Qualifications

- Experience in customer service or help desk capacity with ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing

Additional Considerations

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual in English and another language
- Certification in MS Office or other computer programs used in the Information Center
- Experience in healthcare related customer service
- Higher education in a customer service or a healthcare related field
- Veteran or veteran spouse
