The Privacy Analyst will support the development implementation and maintenance of Guardant Healths global privacy program. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in data privacy who is eager to work at the intersection of healthcare diagnostics and cutting-edge genomic data. This role will be reporting into the Legal Affairs & Compliance Team at Guardant
You will partner cross-functionally with Legal Security Product Clinical and Commercial teams to help ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws (including HIPAA GDPR APPI CCPA) while enabling responsible data use to support innovation in oncology and screening divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Support day-to-day operations of the privacy program including policy implementation training and awareness initiatives
Conduct and assist with privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) and data mapping activities
Help maintain and update records of processing activities (ROPA) and data inventories
Review and triage data subject rights requests (e.g. access deletion correction) in compliance with global regulations
Partner with Legal and Security teams on incident response including potential data breaches and risk assessments
Assist in drafting and maintaining privacy notices internal policies and procedures
Support vendor lifecycle activities including privacy and data protection reviews contract negotiation support (e.g. data processing agreements data use terms) and ongoing monitoring of third-party data handling practices
Monitor evolving privacy regulations and provide summaries of key developments
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to embed privacy by design into products clinical studies and data initiatives
Track and report on privacy program metrics and compliance activities
Required:
Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. law public policy information systems or health sciences)
25 years of experience in privacy data protection compliance or a related field
Familiarity with major privacy frameworks and laws (HIPAA GDPR APPI CCPA)
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
Juris Doctorate from a nationally accredited law school
Experience in healthcare life sciences diagnostics or biotech
Familiarity with clinical data real-world evidence or genomic data privacy considerations
Experience with program management and/or privacy tools
Relevant certifications (e.g. CIPP/US CIPP/E CIPM or CIPT)

Hybrid Work Model: This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays.
