Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a native Spanish speaker with the experience and motivation to work with young adults at our Senior School Leidschenveen campus. As a Language Assistant for Spanish you work closely with the class teacher to build up our students knowledge of the language. This position is offered as a part-time post (0.7FTE).
The role will initially be based at Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and may require the candidate to work in another campus in the future.
Within the Senior Schools we provide native speaking Language Assistant support to our students to supplement the work of the teacher during lessons. Students are offered the opportunity to study French German and Spanish in Year 7 opting for two of these in Years 8 and 9 alongside the compulsory Dutch lessons. Students may continue to study any combination of these to examination level at age 18.
Your skills and knowledge as a Language Assistant will be essential in ensuring we deliver the very best education for all the young people.
As a Language Assistant your key responsibilities will be to:
Help staff in developing contemporary lesson materials in Spanish.
Assist in whole class teaching by helping the teacher assess students oral work whilst they are working in pairs or in small groups in all year groups.
Give some instruction in oral work to small groups of students in all year groups.
Develop and deliver the Year 7 Personal Language Users Program.
Develop and deliver the Personal Language Users Programmes in Years 8 to 11) delivered as an Extra-Curricular Activity (lunchtime and/or after school). This includes preparing personal language students in Year 11 for the GCSE Spanish exam.
Enhance the cultural awareness of Spanish among students and staff.
The salary range for this position is 310383 - 386793 gross EUR monthly (full-time) depending on experience. All figures shown are including the 9% holiday allowance.
