Storeman Warehouse Assistant

About the role

The Storeman is responsible for managing the receipt storage and dispatch of goods/parts in a warehouse or stockroom. This role ensures accurate inventory control proper storage practices and timely distribution of materials.

Reporting to: Operations Manager
Working location: BYDs Reading site RG2 0TG

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive inspect and verify incoming goods against delivery notes or invoices

• Store materials in designated locations following company procedures

• Pick pack and prepare orders for dispatch

• Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems

• Conduct regular stock counts and assist with audits

• Ensure the warehouse is clean organized and safe at all times

• Operate warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts pallet jacks) where required

• Report damaged or missing items to supervisors

• Follow health and safety regulations and company policies

Your profile:

• Previous experience in a warehouse/storekeeping role preferred

• Basic understanding of inventory management systems

• Good organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to lift and move heavy items

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Team player with good communication skills

• Forklift license (desirable but not always required)

• Right to work in the UK

Working conditions:

• May involve standing for long periods

• Manual handling of goods

• Shift work may be required depending on business needs
