Position Summary
Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights)
This position is 100% on-site at the Strathroy site.
This position is located in Strathroy Ontario one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation manufacturing analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.
Reporting to the Department Supervisor the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Encapsulation Operator is responsible for set-up and operation of the encapsulation machines as per standard operating procedures and safety requirements producing consistent good quality product in accordance with master batch production records and Standard Operating Procedures ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
The Role
Sets up the encapsulation machines and operates them according to Standard Operating Procedures producing good quality product. Required activities involve (but are not limited to) checking fill and shell weights measuring seam integrity changing fill and gel tanks/receivers and performing any necessary corrective adjustments.
Spreads capsules on trays checking capsules as spreading for defects compiles trays of product in to stacks labels and transfers the stacks to the assigned drying tunnel.
Confirms all gelatin and fill tanks conform to temperature color batch number and receiver sequences for the order before placed on machine following corrective actions if necessary.
Monitoring encapsulation machine and capsules though out the shift for any issues and correcting as needed.
Completes all documentation required including but not limited to: in-process checks set-ups start-ups and changeovers.
Changes and cleans machine parts as required.
Perform other duties as assigned
The Candidate
High School Diploma GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required additional education would be considered an asset.
2 years of experience in a manufacturing pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility is preferred.
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is an asset.
Ability to work independently as required and complete daily activities according to schedule.
Strong problem-solving analytical and mathematical skills including the ability to perform basic calculations such as addition subtraction percentages rounding numbers and converting weights and measurements is required.
Process a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.

The employees role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling feeling and keyboard manipulation necessitating manual dexterity.
Occasionally the position requires standing walking reaching bending twisting stooping kneeling crouching or crawling alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.
Pay:
The start hourly rate for this position is $25.47/ is a global employer and this compensation does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
