SUMMARY
Counsels students and provides educational and vocational guidance services by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. *Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labres right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Collects organizes and analyzes information about individuals through records tests interviews and professional sources to appraise their interests aptitudes abilities and personality characteristics for vocational and educational planning 9-12 assists 5-8 provides information to elementary.
Provides information to the staff regarding materials and consultative assistance aimed at helping staff members understand and develop post-secondary goals of each student 5-12.
Maintains an effective system for keeping counseling records accurate and up-to-date as to career counseling.
Assists in coordinating the school testing program.
Meets regularly with the principal and K-12 counseling staff regarding career information.
Actively involves parents in the career counseling process.
Keeps individual student counseling files.
Acts as a consultant to parents teachers counselors and administrators on issues related to the career area.
Develops and maintains contact with agencies that provide services and job opportunities for students.
Provides teachers and students with career exploration information career guidance services and financial aid information.
Compiles data on former students and their post-secondary histories.
Works with secretaries in keeping permanent student records up-to-date.
Keeps informed of current trends in the guidance and counseling areas.
Helps students register and prepare for the ACT and ASVAB tests. Schedules these tests.
Maintains and updates scholarship and other career counselor information on the St. Labre School website.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree or equivalent; and three to five years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Training/experience working with students is required.
