JOB SUMMARY:
The House Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of both the lobby and audience seating areas during events. Welcomes the public to the theatre and oversees their safety and well-being before during and immediately after events. Represents the Arts & Culture division ensuring a welcoming & inclusive theatre environment for all patrons and volunteers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years of closely related experience performing similar functions in a public-facing or customer service role.
Preference will be given to applicants with prior supervisory experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Motivates front-of-house staff to provide excellent customer service to all event attendees.
- Ensures the safety of event attendees by working with front-of-house staff during emergency evacuations.
- Resolves matters arising from patron complaints activities or requests.
- Supervises front-of-house staff at events which includes orienting training assigning and reviewing work performance.
- Monitors the appearance and cleanliness of the lobby audience seating areas and other public areas and communicates with other departments as necessary to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Performs other related duties and attends meetings and trainings as assigned.
Additional Information:
Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing stairs lifting boxes of programs walking scanning tickets stooping and handling materials.
Ability to lift 40 lbs repetitively.
Ability to stand for long periods of time up to the duration of a shift.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
Comfortable answering questions from the ushers and patrons to resolve service issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION:
***This position requires employees flexibility to work Nights Weekends and Holidays ***
TEMPORARY POSITIONS:
An At Will FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month.
- Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy.
- Are not considered merit employees.
- Are at will employees who may be terminated for any reason without notice and without a pretermination hearing.
