Job Summary
Your Mission: What Youll Achieve
As our Technical Sales Support your mission is to drive commercial success from the inside out. You will be the primary contact for customer inquiries using your technical expertise to not only solve problems but to uncover and develop new sales opportunities. You will masterfully translate customer needs into effective solutions transforming every interaction into a chance to grow the business. By preparing strategic quotations proactively identifying up-sell and cross-sell possibilities and fostering strong customer relationships you will be a key player in achieving our sales targets and solidifying our market leadership.
In this role you will:
- Become a Trusted Customer Partner: Act as the primary technical and commercial contact for customer inquiries building a reputation for outstanding service and expert advice that fosters loyalty and repeat business.
- Drive the Sales & Quoting Engine: Take full ownership of the quotation process for your assigned product lines from initial inquiry to final order. You will ensure all quotes are accurate timely and strategically priced to win business.
- Champion Product & Solution Expertise: Develop a deep technical knowledge of our product portfolio to confidently recommend solutions overcome objections and advise customers on the best options to meet their needs.
- Forge Strategic Internal Partnerships: Collaborate seamlessly with external sales engineering and logistics to ensure a unified customer strategy and a smooth flow of information from opportunity identification to final delivery.
- Unlock and Maximize Revenue Opportunities: Proactively identify pursue and close plus-the-sale and cross-selling opportunities adding value for the customer and maximizing the profitability of every transaction.
- Develop Towards an External Sales Role: This position is designed to be a development role. You will be actively mentored and coached to build the skills and experience necessary for a possible future in external sales.
Qualifications :
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in an internal sales technical support or customer service role within an engineering distribution or manufacturing environment.
- A strong commercial drive and technical aptitude with the ability to read technical drawings and understand product specifications. An HNC/HND in an engineering discipline is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience in creating and following up on quotations with a clear understanding of the sales process.
- Excellent communication negotiation and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset and the ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Proficiency with an ERP system (e.g. SAP) and CRM software is essential for managing the sales pipeline.
- A proactive organized and results-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple commercial priorities effectively.
Core Responsibilities & Impact Areas:
1. Technical Sales & Commercial Growth:
- Respond to all customer technical and product inquiries with a focus on converting them into sales opportunities.
- Prepare and issue clear accurate and commercially compelling quotations to meet customer deadlines and win orders.
- Proactively follow up on all open quotations to convert them into sales overcoming objections and negotiating where necessary to drive revenue.
- Process customer orders accurately ensuring all requirements are correctly captured to ensure customer satisfaction.
2. Opportunity & Relationship Management:
- Actively seek out and document opportunities to offer additional products and services (plus-the-sale) that benefit the customer and increase order value.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key customer accounts becoming their trusted internal advisor and partner.
- Provide critical support to our external sales team acting as their key internal liaison to ensure a unified and effective sales approach.
3. Process & System Excellence:
- Effectively utilize our CRM and SAP systems to log inquiries manage your sales pipeline and process orders ensuring data integrity and clear communication trails.
- Liaise with logistics purchasing and engineering departments to confirm product availability lead times and technical specifications to support the sales process.
- Maintain a clean and organised order book proactively managing any changes or updates as required.
- To carry out other tasks that may be reasonably requested from time to time.
- To complete all tasks and objectives in accordance with customers technical quality and delivery requirements standard company procedures and policies Health and Safety requirements and industry Codes of Practice.
