Medical Receptionist - Ambulatory Float Pool

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our Ambulatory Float this dynamic role you will support multiple clinics by managing patient check-ins and registration across primary care and specialty care ambulatory settings. Assignments are based on operational needs and schedules are provided one week in advance.

This role requires strong adaptability the ability to work independently and comfort in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to quickly learn clinic workflows and provide a welcoming professional experience for patients at all locations. A background in customer service or patient-facing roles is highly valued as delivering exceptional patient experience is a top priority. Team collaboration and a positive solutions-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.

Details:

  • Shifts: Monday-Friday 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM. No evenings weekends or holidays.

  • Training: Revenue Cycle training is required Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM for the first 24 weeks. Internal candidates who have previously completed this training for their current role do not need to repeat it.

  • Location: Floating across Nebraska Medicine ambulatory clinics including 14 primary care clinics and various specialty care clinics.

Duties:

Provides the highest quality of customer service for patients and others by performing all duties in a professional and engaging manner. Serve as the first point of contact by greeting and welcoming patients and others (in person at the check-in desk or via the telephone). Responsible for answering incoming calls and/or checking in / out patients per established protocols. Responsible for scheduling patient appointments and registering patients at multiple Nebraska Medicine facilities.

Required Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year post-secondary education with coursework in business medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in customer service or medical scheduling related capacity (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to physicians patients and other internal/external customers required.
Ability to work professionally with physicians clinic staff and patients in a timely confidential manner required.
Demonstrated analytical prioritization and organizational skills required.
Demonstrated flexibility and dedication to team environment required.
Effective communication skills required.

Valid drivers license required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare environment with working knowledge of medical office operations preferred.
College coursework in business preferred.
Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel preferred.
Depending on the position available fluency in Spanish preferred.
