Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations within an acute care hospital environment. This role involves medication preparation sterile and non-sterile compounding inventory management and assisting pharmacists in delivering safe efficient patient care.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IV admixture EPIC charting systems and automated dispensing systems (e.g. PYXIS) along with a strong understanding of inpatient pharmacy workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile medications
- Perform IV admixture for non-hazardous medications
- Assist with medication dispensing and distribution
- Operate and maintain automated dispensing systems (e.g. PYXIS)
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and controlled substance documentation
- Follow aseptic techniques and proper labeling standards
- Prevent identify and report medication errors
- Maintain pharmacy inventory stock levels and supplies
- Document accurately within the EPIC charting system
- Maintain clean organized and sterile pharmacy workspaces
- Support pharmacists with medication preparation and workflow efficiency
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols and infection control standards
Schedule Requirements
- Day Shift: 09:30 AM 06:00 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Yes (consecutive weekends required)
- Holiday Requirement: As per facility needs
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy technician experience
- Travel experience required
- Experience in acute care hospital settings preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications & Licensure
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) required
- Active Oregon State Pharmacy License required (must be in hand prior to submission)
Technical Skills & Requirements
- Experience with EPIC charting system
- Experience with PYXIS or similar automated dispensing systems
- Hands-on experience with IV admixture and sterile compounding
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with pharmacy laws regulations and medication safety practices
