Project Cost Estimator Industrial Automation & Electrical Control Panels

Job Summary
The Project Cost Estimator is responsible for developing accurate project proposals and quotations for industrial automation and electrical control panel projects. This role works closely with Engineering Materials Operations and Sales to analyze Bills of Material (BOMs) determine labor and production costs and support customer proposals from concept through final quotation.
The ideal candidate will have experience estimating electrical control panels UL panel assemblies or similar electro-mechanical systems within a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
Essential Functions
- Develop customer proposals and project quotations based on engineering designs BOMs and customer specifications
- Coordinate with the Materials team to obtain component pricing and supplier quotations
- Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to estimate labor hours and build requirements
- Work with Sales to align project pricing and margin objectives
- Review project scope and manage quotation revisions or change orders as needed
- Analyze drawings panel layouts and wiring diagrams to support accurate estimating
- Coordinate with Engineering teams regarding component selection and technical requirements
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and cost records
- Support supplier RFQs quote comparisons and cost normalization activities
- Assist in continuously improving estimating processes and proposal accuracy
Experience Education and Skills
- Associate / technical degree or better in Electrical Engineering Engineering Technology or related field is preferred
- 3 years of experience estimating or quoting electrical control panels / UL panel assemblies OR similar electro-mechanical products
- Experience in a manufacturing controls or panel assembly environment preferred
- Familiarity with CAD drawings panel layouts and wiring diagrams
- Experience with BOM costing supplier RFQs and labor estimating
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment
