The incumbent of this position will perform diversified analytical tasks at headquarters for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. The incumbent of this position is responsible for the manual and automated processing of personnel actions as well as maintenance of personnel records. incumbent will also be under the general supervision of the HR Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of human resources experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelors degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
As a Human Resources Analyst you will be responsible forthe manual and automated processing of personnel actions as well as maintenance of personnel this role you will:

  • Provide general basic explanation of employee benefit programs and advises employees of various options available under some programs.
  • Review benefits documents for accuracy and completeness; forwards to appropriate office.
  • Provide induction documents to new employees providing guidance and a general overview of each document; follows up to ensure new employee timely completes all required forms.
  • Review position descriptions for accuracy of organizational information. Contacts employees supervisors managers etc. to elicit corrections or resolve minor conflicts in information presented.
  • Review files on a routine basis to ensure that current descriptions are maintained for all positions.
  • Participate in salary surveys and other research needed to support requests for special pay actions.
  • Provide grievance forms and routine procedural instructions to employees.
  • Collect and compiles statistical data required to prepare reports.
  • Provide assistance to agency personnel on routine or limited Civil Service rules Federal and State laws and department policies and procedures in assigned areas.
  • Schedule interviews. Accept and screen applications. Verify eligibility of selected applicants.
  • Assist supervisors and managers by providing routine information relative to the performance appraisal system. Provide notification of deadlines for completion of appraisal process and follows up to ensure target dates are met.
  • Schedule employees for required training courses. Monitor and maintain records of completed course work.

Appointment Type:The position will be filled by a probational appointment or promotion of a permanent state employee.
Domicile:Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Headquarters in Baton Rouge LA (East Baton Rouge Parish)
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The advertised maximum amount listed is the maximum salary a person can make while in this title/level over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.

Career Progression:This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) under the job series: Human Resources Analyst A/B/C. As part of a CPG vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as aHR Analyst A B or Cdepending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
