Whats the Role

As Consumer Editor you will lead a team to produce high-quality multi-platform content that resonates with our audience. You will collaborate with other department heads to maximize output and gather insights.

You will identify and break national stories involving major retailers legislation pricing and consumer issues and will assign edit and publish stories.

You will develop SEO and search-driven content strategies to increase readership and search visibility create trend-focused coverage and optimized headlines.

You will monitor analytics Google Trends Parsley and audience performance to guide editorial decisions while ensuring accuracy speed and editorial standards in a high-volume breaking news environment.

Day to day you will:

• Edit Impactful Stories: Produce high-quality content quickly and accurately across various topics.

• Cover Breaking News: Be on the front lines of major stories and ensure timely reporting.

• Story Development: Pitch compelling ideas and angles at daily conferences helping shape the editorial agenda.

• Work Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams from video to social media ensuring maximum audience reach and engagement.

• Editorial Quality: Ensure all content produced by your team meets legal and ethical standards and upholds the editorial quality of The U.S. Sun.

• Content Optimization: Edit copy to ensure its punchy compelling and true to The U.S. Suns voice.

• Maximize Traffic: Use your understanding of analytics to spot trending stories that resonate with our audience.

• Assist New Editors: Senior news reporters work with editors on pitching new stories and work with other general news reporters to develop their work.

What were looking for from you:

• Experienced Journalist: At least 3-5 years of digital journalism experience and a background in breaking stories.

• Skilled Writer: You can write concisely and engagingly ensuring every story captures the readers attention.

• Tech-savvy: Experience with analytics tools SEO social media and strategies for growing a digital audience.

• Legal and Compliance-Aware: Comfortable ensuring all content meets legal and ethical standards.

• Fast-Paced Thinker: Ability to thrive under pressure making quick decisions and adapting in a fast-moving newsroom.
