Position Summary
Big Bend Community College (BBCC) a rural college serving vibrant culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington invites applications for an Executive Director of the BBCC Foundation in the colleges Foundation Department.
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of an ongoing advancement program on behalf of the Big Bend Community College Foundation in fulfillment of its mission to actively and visibly support the mission of Big Bend Community College (BBCC). The Executive Director serves as the primary liaison to the Big Bend Community College Foundation Board shaping board engagement and governance strategy attending regular meetings providing updates on fundraising performance and financial health
This role is central to cultivating and sustaining relationships with individual donors alumni community leaders and regional partners who are committed to supporting the transformative impact of community college education.
This position works collaboratively with other campus departments in providing service to a diverse clientele including donors students families faculty staff businesses and community groups.

Foundation Board Leadership Visioning Planning and Development:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the College and the Foundation Board of Directors fostering a collaborative mission-driven partnership.
- Work as an effective partner with the Foundation Board in providing vision strategy and leadership. Guide and support the Foundation Boards strategic planning fundraising and governance activities; prepare Board meeting materials including agendas policies and financial reports.
- Collaborate with the Foundation Board and college administration to develop a comprehensive advancement plan and approach that is consistent with the priorities of the organization as outlined in the BBCC Strategic Plan.
- Ensure Board members are informed engaged and supported in their roles and actively participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new Board members.
- Monitor trends and issues affecting community college advancement to identify opportunities and threats to the Foundations mission and strategic initiatives. Recommend and facilitate implementation of appropriate action to maximize opportunities and mitigate threats.
- Uphold legal ethical and financial integrity through compliance with all relevant laws regulations and Foundation bylaws.
Advancement and Donor Relations:
- Serve as the Foundations lead fundraiser and principal gift officer by developing implementing and executing a comprehensive fundraising and advancement strategy aligned with Big Bend Community Colleges mission strategic priorities and long-term goals including annual major planned and future capital giving.
- Oversee and implement the Foundations advancement plan encompassing major gifts planned giving annual giving alumni relations special events and other fundraising initiatives ensuring measurable progress toward established fundraising objectives.
- Manage a portfolio of major and planned giving prospects directing all phases of the donor life cycle including identification cultivation solicitation stewardship and estate-planning discussions in collaboration with donors and professional advisors.
- Conduct prospect research and maintain accurate records related to the philanthropic potential of individuals corporations and foundations; develop and submit grant proposals and funding requests to the Foundation Board or college administration as appropriate.
- Create and oversee the development of compelling donor communications and materials including proposals endowment and gift agreements stewardship reports and other communications designed to engage inspire and retain donors.
Finance Operations and Organizational Management:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operations oversight for the Foundation ensuring its financial strength transparency and operational excellence.
- Develop and manage the Foundations annual budget and oversee timely accurate financial reporting.
- Manage Foundation activities including regular and special meetings of the foundation board and foundation committees budget process investments and other ongoing operational functions.
- Ensure that all gifts are administered with fidelity to donor intent and in compliance with Foundation and College policies tax requirements and relevant laws.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Foundations investment portfolio to achieve optimal investment performance and long-term asset preservation in collaboration with investment managers and appropriate finance committees.
- Lead mentor and manage the Foundation team across functional areas including annual giving donor relations scholarships fiscal operations and data systems.
- Foster a collaborative high-performing team culture rooted in professionalism equity shared success accountability service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals provide ongoing performance feedback and support professional development opportunities for staff.
Community Partnerships & Community Leadership:
- Recommend opportunities for increased community involvement to college administration.
- Partner closely with the College President and senior leaders to align fundraising strategies with institutional needs and priorities.
- Represent the Foundation and College at key community events donor meetings and other public engagements to build relationships and strengthen visibility.
- Actively participate in college and community life contributing to a strong culture of philanthropy and engagement.
Other Work Activities:
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to maintain current knowledge of best practices trends and regulatory developments relevant to fundraising nonprofit leadership and higher education through professional networks learning opportunities and affiliations.
- Maintain a safe healthy and secure work environment by following college safety protocols and risk-management practices including awareness of workplace safety procedures emergency response expectations and appropriate use of equipment and resources.

- Demonstrate flexibility and accountability by effectively carrying out additional responsibilities or evolving duties as organizational needs change while maintaining quality professionalism and alignment with institutional standards.
Minimum & Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to successfully plan execute and support fundraising and planned giving activities including donor cultivation solicitation and stewardship gained through professional experience or equivalent preparation.
- Proven proficiency in written and oral communication including the ability to prepare persuasive materials present information clearly and build effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit operations and compliance including familiarity with applicable federal and state laws and ethical standards governing tax-exempt organizations.
- Applied experience in budget development financial analysis and oversight including understanding of general accounting principles relevant to nonprofit or public-sector organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multicultural and inclusive environments showing cultural awareness respect and the capacity to collaborate across differences.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated capability to lead supervise and support staff or teams including setting expectations providing guidance and fostering accountability.
- Proficiency in fundraising donor management or constituent relationship systems and the ability to leverage common productivity and data tools to support advancement activities.
- Strong project planning and execution skills including organizing work managing timelines prioritizing competing demands and successfully leading multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze complex situations seek appropriate resources exercise sound judgment and make well-reasoned decisions.
- Track record of professional accountability and ethical practice including adherence to legal requirements responsible decision-making and stewardship of institutional resources.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in team-oriented and diverse professional settings contributing positively to shared goals and organizational success.
