Software Developer I Data Platform

The Data Ingestion and Infrastructure and Management team builds integrations infrastructure pipelines and tools to import key MLS Property Schools and School Ratings climate data as well as other inventory data that have made Redfin the most trusted real-estate site in the US.

The Data Ingestion and Infrastructure team supports our Data Platform and helps build the systems that power Redfins data this role you will develop and maintain data pipelines and services that ingest process and deliver large-scale datasets used by machine learning analytics and product teams. You will work closely with senior engineers and tech leads to implement reliable scalable solutions using technologies such as Spark Python/Java Airflow and cloud data platforms. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is excited to learn distributed systems and data engineering while contributing to real-world systems that impact millions of users.

About the Role

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest process and organize large datasets (such as listings clickstream and external data sources) into Redfins data lake and analytics platforms.

• Develop data processing applications using technologies such as Spark Python/Java and workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow/Windfarm) to support machine learning product features and analytics.

• Collaborate with senior engineers and tech leads to improve the reliability performance and monitoring of Redfins data platform and batch processing infrastructure.

• Help modernize legacy data systems by migrating pipelines and datasets to Redfins lakehouse architecture and standardized data frameworks.

• Contribute to internal tools and services that enable other engineering teams to discover access and use data efficiently across Redfins platform.

About You

• You have 13 years of experience building software systems data pipelines or backend services and are interested in growing your skills in data engineering and distributed systems.

• You have experience working with relational or non-relational databases and are excited to learn technologies commonly used in modern data platforms such as Spark Python/Java SQL Airflow and cloud infrastructure.

• You enjoy working with large datasets and are curious about how data powers machine learning product features and analytics across an organization.

• You are eager to learn from experienced engineers collaborate with teammates and contribute to improving the reliability and scalability of shared data systems.

• You take pride in writing clean reliable code and care about data quality system reliability and building tools that help other teams work more effectively.

• You are curious and motivated to grow willing to explore new technologies and approaches as Redfin evolves its modern data platform and lakehouse architecture.

On-Call Expectations
This role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. If applicable frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable job posting disclosure requirements. The compensation for this position is $107400.00-$145200.00. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus incentives and other employment-related benefits including but not limited to medical dental and vision benefits 401K retirement plan and paid-time off.
