WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Department of Public Safety Division of Administrative Services Supply Section is seeking a motivated and dedicated Facilities Manager who is responsible for planning directing coordinating and controlling the departments state owned and leased facilities to include all maintenance construction and repair requests all leasing operations as well as supervising and leading the leasing and facilities team. This position directs all maintenance and construction projects utilizing operating capital and deferred funds and supervises two Building Management Specialists. This position is responsible for yearly reporting requirements and overseeing and facilitating construction procurements within the departments delegation of authority.



OUR ORGANIZATION MISSION AND CULTURE:
The Division of Administrative Services provides management assistance to the DPS Commissioner and administrative support to all divisions in the department. Centralized administrative support includes: operating/capital budgeting financial management procurement property control maintenance/construction and repair requests leasing grants contracts accounts payable accounts receivable interagency agreements budget coordination and warehouse operations.

The Supply team operates on core values of customer service consistency and accuracy and teamwork all of which contribute to the success of our section to support the department.

Working with the Supply team you will provide expertise with managing facility operations for the department and provide guidance to all divisions related to facilities maintenance construction repairs and leasing requests.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is located at the Department of Public Safety Headquarters in Anchorage at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave and Tudor Road. The daily work environment consists of a small team of task-driven individuals in a shared workspace. The incumbent will work closely with team members to support the mission. Some travel will be required to fulfill job duties. Work outside of normal business hours may be needed on occasion. After a successful training period this position may be eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement.



WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles practices and current developments of facility management design and construction.

  • Working knowledge of local State and federal building and safety codes regulations design and construction standards design plans and specifications.

  • Working knowledge of the principles and techniques of administrative management including organization planning staffing training budgeting and reporting.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex issues and situations make sound judgements propose viable solutions and courses of action and establish appropriate priorities.

  • Ability to effectively translate complex technical issues to lay and program personnel.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with a wide variety of government officials contracting agencies consultants contractors architects and engineers.

  • Ability to plan determine work priorities schedule supervise and direct the work of professional and nonprofessional technical support staff.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Budget Administration: Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing justifying reporting on and executing the budget; and the relationships among program budget accounting and reporting systems.

  • Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials methods and the tools to construct objects structures and buildings.

  • Facilities: Knowledge of the physical engineering and experimental equipment and operational characteristics of facilities and safety and equipment development designed to support activities.

  • Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of the principles methods or tools for developing scheduling coordinating and managing projects and resources including monitoring and inspecting costs work and contractor performance.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in facility management public or business administration planning design architecture engineering construction or maintenance project or cost management or a closely related field.
