Job Summary

The primary function of this role is to maintain accurate accounting records for assigned corporate books. The Corporate Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy integrity and compliance of the company’s financial records. This role oversees general ledger and financial reporting activities including the preparation of journal entries account reconciliations month-end closing procedures and financial reporting and analysis.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the manning company including petty cash management Cash to Master (CTM) arrangements preparation of monthly accruals reversals and other month-end adjustment entries.
  • Prepare journal entries related to monthly closing activities such as accruals amortizations and intercompany adjustments. Maintain schedules and perform reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts investigating and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting and clean general ledger records.
  • Assist the Corporate Accounting Manager in the preparation of management reporting packs and variance analyses. Identify significant trends or anomalies in financial data and escalate findings for appropriate review and action.
  • Prepare monthly DA reports for submission to Hong Kong ensuring all vessel-related charges are accurate and supported by complete documentation.
  • Conduct analysis of financial and operational results in collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to evaluate company performance identify key business drivers and provide explanations for month-on-month and year-on-year variances.
  • Demonstrate a solution-oriented approach by working closely with the reporting manager and key stakeholders to recommend practical solutions that support organizational objectives while maintaining compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/PFRS accounting standards and support clean external and BIR audit outcomes.
  • Perform other ad hoc reporting and accounting tasks as assigned by the reporting manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation and external audit experience from a Big 4 firm are considered an advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in core accounting functions and financial reporting with prior exposure to the shipping industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting internal controls accounting standards BIR regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability in issue resolution root-cause analysis and KPI/trend analysis.
  • Experience in the shipping industry is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle with advanced skills in MS Excel and reporting tools.
