As a Caseworker you will play an important role in the lives of foster youth by building a relationship with children developing a treatment plan and coordinate the provision of services to children and their familiesin Solano and Contra Costa Counties.

Alternative Family Services is a Foster Family Adoption and Mental Health Agency that has been serving abused and neglected children in our community since 1973. Our mission is to support vulnerable children and families in need of stability safety and well-being in communities. We provide a wide range of foster adoption mental health and transition-aged youth services in English and Spanish. We have eight locations throughout the Bay Area and 200 employees. Responsibilities
- Supervise and support placements of youth in foster homes
- Conduct regular in-home visits and provide ongoing supervision and support to youth and resource families
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans within required timelines and update regularly
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency response including evenings and weekends as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in accordance with agency and state regulations
- Coordinate and arrange services including therapy education medical care and recreational activities
- Train and support resource parents (foster parents) to ensure quality care and compliance
- Collaborate with treatment team members county representatives and community partners
- Identify and utilize community resources
- Act as a liaison between AFS and other community-based services needed by the foster child
- Participate in staff meetings training and support groups
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and agency policies
Qualifications
- Masters degree in social work or related field that meets educational requirements as required by California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22; or be granted an exception by California Community Care Licensing (CCL)
- Ability to obtain fingerprint and government required background clearances
- 1-2 years experience working with children and familiesis preferable
- Able to drive and transport children into a variety of community settings using a personal vehicle that is maintained in safe working order
- Current and valid California drivers license with an acceptable driving record current and valid auto insurance showing as an insured driver on the policy and vehicle registration
- Able to respond to client and family crisis as needed which may require weekend and after hour response
- Ability to work successfully and collaboratively in complex family systems
- Proven track record of working successfully with diverse cultural populations
- Possess a high level of integrity honesty and strong work ethic
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful environment
- Able to interact calmly and professionally with clients who may act out due to behavioral disabilities
- Able to interact with co-workers county representatives and other treatment team members as part of a cooperative team
- Able to work with minimal direct supervision and manage time and prioritize workload
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus!
Driving Requirements
This position requires the employee to work out in the community and within foster homes throughoutSolano County and Contra Costa County.Thus position requires employee to possess a valid CA drivers license and valid automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy at all times. Position requires daily access to a car in safe working order.

- Starting salary $70304 -$74304/year
- Additional pay differential offered for CA Clinical Licensure (MFT LCSW) of $3000/annually
- Additional language differential offered for Spanish language fluency of $2500/year (must be fluent)
