Job Summary

ABOUT US:
Yorgum was established in 1991 by a group of Aboriginal women some of whom worked in womens refuges who were concerned about the lack of appropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritual emotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a healing approach rather than an ongoing crisis-driven patch-up approach.
Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people and their families autonomous community based healing services that are culturally secure trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.
THE ROLE:
To provide counselling and support services to Aboriginal clients.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
To be considered for the role you will be able to demonstrate the following experience and abilities:
1.A minimum of Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent relevant qualification) with a minimum of three years experience.
experience in providing evidence-based counselling and case management skills with an understanding of issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
understanding of Aboriginal Terms of Reference and cultural competency.
experience in engaging with and building strong working relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders.
organisational and time management skills.
experience to work independently and as a member of a team.
experience with Microsoft applications and database management.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL NEED TO SUPPLY:
A Valid Drivers License
