Automation Technician (FMCG)
Location: Pretoria
A leading supplier of advanced optical fibre test equipment and telecommunications measurement solutions is seeking a technically strong Automation Technician to join their team. The environment is fast-paced and technology-driven making it ideally suited to candidates with experience in high-speed high-volume FMCG manufacturing environments.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong electrical and automation experience looking to transition into a specialised high-tech industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform installation commissioning and maintenance of advanced test and measurement equipment
  • Support automation and integration of systems within various technical environments
  • Troubleshoot electrical electronic and control system faults
  • Assist with system upgrades configuration and performance optimisation
  • Provide technical support to clients and ensure high levels of service delivery
  • Work with automated systems instrumentation and monitoring equipment
  • Conduct site work including system implementation and fault-finding
Minimum Requirements:
  • Trade Test as a Millwright (essential)
  • National Diploma or Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferred)
  • Minimum 35 years experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems PLCs and automated production equipment
  • Experience working on high-speed production lines and complex machinery
  • Exposure to instrumentation control systems and fault-finding in a production environment
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel when required

  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on technical mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a client-facing environment
  • Strong communication skills
