Automation Technician (FMCG)
Location: Pretoria
A leading supplier of advanced optical fibre test equipment and telecommunications measurement solutions is seeking a technically strong Automation Technician to join their team. The environment is fast-paced and technology-driven making it ideally suited to candidates with experience in high-speed high-volume FMCG manufacturing environments.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong electrical and automation experience looking to transition into a specialised high-tech industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Perform installation commissioning and maintenance of advanced test and measurement equipment
Support automation and integration of systems within various technical environments
Troubleshoot electrical electronic and control system faults
Assist with system upgrades configuration and performance optimisation
Provide technical support to clients and ensure high levels of service delivery
Work with automated systems instrumentation and monitoring equipment
Conduct site work including system implementation and fault-finding

Minimum Requirements:

Trade Test as a Millwright (essential)
National Diploma or Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferred)
Minimum 35 years experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment (essential)
Strong knowledge of electrical systems PLCs and automated production equipment
Experience working on high-speed production lines and complex machinery
Exposure to instrumentation control systems and fault-finding in a production environment
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel when required

Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Hands-on technical mindset with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a client-facing environment
Strong communication skills
