Key Responsibilities:
Join our collaborative and innovative team! The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Technician 2 to support key HR functions and ensure smooth compliant Workplace Alaska (WPA) this role you will assist hiring managers throughout the hiring process and help provide an exceptional experience for applicants and staff.- Review recruitment bulletins and request corrections to ensure compliance.
- Assist hiring managers with applicant disposition job offer approvals notification letters and legal hire verification.
- Close and archive job requests and help track WPA hires.
- Respond to inquiries from hiring managers employees and the public about WPA and hiring procedures.
- Provide guidance on interview questions reference checks and recruitment best practices.
- Make minimum qualification determinations including on complex or unique applications.

Who we are looking for:
The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies:- Oral Communication: Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.
- Written Communication: Writes in a clear concise organized and convincing manner for the intended audience.
- Personnel and Human Resources: Knowledge of hiring classification benefits labor relations negotiation and Federal state and local employment regulations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Treats others with courtesy sensitivity and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
- Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
Substitution:
One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
Special Note:
High school graduation equivalent means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.
Human resource work includes experience in recruitment and selection classification employee training employer provided benefits programs employment law compliance personnel payroll or employee or labor relations.
