Parts & Inventory Lead

Position Summary

The Parts & Inventory Lead plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Parts & Inventory team at Upstream Data. This position is responsible for organizing tracking and assembling components required for builds across multiple specialized departments including Fabrication Welding Electrical Industrial Mechanics and Machining.

Acting as the bridge between the warehouse and the shop floor the Parts & Inventory Lead ensures accuracy efficiency and organization in the parts process to support rigorous production schedules and maintain optimal inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily tasks for the Supply Chain team including picking moving and facility organization.
  • Provide technical training to staff on engine part identification ERP best practices and safe warehouse operations.
  • Drive departmental performance to ensure accuracy in both physical inventory counts and system entries.
  • Lead the Kitting process for engine rebuilds and fabrication projects ensuring every bolt gasket and component is verified and delivered to the bay before technician work commences.
  • Coordinate directly with Plant Managers to adjust delivery schedules based on shifting production priorities or urgent Special Projects.
  • Reconcile receiving errors and investigate discrepancies identified during cycle counts.
  • Perform quality control spot checks on incoming high-value components to ensure they meet specifications before being binned.
  • Administer routine inventory count procedures and rolling counts to minimize inventory variance.
  • Manage the Core Return program for engine components ensuring high-value trade-ins are processed and shipped to vendors to capture maximum credits.
  • Optimize the warehouse layout to maximize storage density and minimize pick time for the team.
  • Ensure all warehouse equipment (forklifts pallet jacks racking) is inspected and maintained in strict accordance with Alberta OHS standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years of industrial experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role within a warehouse or parts department.
  • High level of proficiency using ERP software to manage multi-location inventory.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Forklift and overhead crane experience is highly preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: A practical understanding of Alberta OHS legislation and safety protocols.
  • Clear understanding of project cost tracking inventory flow and production documentation.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Exceptional organizational skills keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a shop and warehouse environment with exposure to noise dust and moving mechanical equipment.
  • Occasional lifting bending and standing for extended periods is required.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory (safety boots gloves hard hat and eye protection).
