Role Summary

Topper Industries is seeking a Senior CAD Designer / Detailing Lead to own the quality accuracy and flow of all fabrication drawings across the business.

This role goes beyond traditional detailing it sits at the center of engineering production and procurement ensuring drawings are not only accurate but buildable efficient and aligned with shop realities.

You will lead drawing reviews redlines and QC processes while continuing to produce and improve fabrication drawings in Autodesk Inventor. This is a hands-on role with ownership ideal for someone who wants to elevate drafting standards improve processes and directly impact production outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Detailing

• Create and maintain 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor
• Translate engineering and conceptual designs into complete shop-ready drawing packages
• Produce assemblies subassemblies weldments and part-level documentation

Quality Control & Drawing Ownership

• Own drawing QC redlines and review cycles across all projects
• Review and mark up drawings before release to production
• Standardize and enforce detailing best practices templates and workflows
• Serve as the final checkpoint for drawing accuracy and completeness

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with engineering shop and purchasing to ensure drawings are aligned with real-world fabrication and material needs
• Facilitate communication between departments to resolve design gaps early
• Support procurement by ensuring accurate BOMs and material requirements

Production & Process Support

• Assist with nesting and material optimization to support fabrication efficiency
• Identify and drive process improvements across detailing and production workflows
• Improve drafting standards to reduce rework errors and production delays

External & Overflow Work

• Manage and review work from third-party or contract detailers (if applicable)
• Ensure external work meets Toppers standards before release

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in detailing drafting or fabrication environments
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (required)
• Proven experience producing fabrication-ready drawing packages
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes materials tolerances and shop workflows
• Experience reviewing drawings managing redlines and enforcing quality standards
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering production and purchasing
• Strong attention to detail with a process and improvement mindset
• Experience with BOMs nesting or production support is highly preferred

Role Details

This is a full-time exempt position based in Woodland WA. Employees are eligible for benefits after 90 days.
