QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience in general office work
- Accurately type 55 wpm
- Experience on a personal computer
- Experience with eSchool preferred
- Strong organizational skills
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the special education office and to accurately maintain the educational records/data of students with disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and organize student files checking as to the accuracy of all information required by State and Federal regulations.
- Request and/or submit student records to/from agencies as needed in a timely manner.
- Inventory and maintain equipment and test kits for special education personnel under the direct supervision of the Special Education Director.
- Maintain and order test protocols used by appraisal personnel.
- Coordinate the destruction of student records according to State and Federal regulations.
- Perform all secretarial duties necessary to the Special Education Department including memos and communication with all special education personnel principals assistant principals registrars and counselors.
- Keep itinerary for school psychology specialists physical and occupational therapists and other special education personnel under the direct supervision of the Director of Special Education.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Assure active and inactive student records correspond with information maintained on the districts student information system (eSchool).
- Assist the director and coordinators with all special education monitoring and compliance procedures.
- Organize and prepare records for due process hearings.
- Answer phones for special education personnel and other instructional personnel as needed.
- Attend professional development upon request.
- Perform other secretarial duties as assigned.
- Be available to help other secretaries anytime.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Range 6 - Support Staff Hourly Salary Schedule ($12.94/hr. - $24.81/hr. depending on relevant experience)
Length of Contract: 244 contract days
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Personnel Status: Classified
