Transit Program Administrator I

About the Job: In this position you will support the coordination and monitoring of various transit programs for Mountain Metropolitan Transit including but not limited to fixed-route paratransit and security. This position also ensures program compliance with Federal State and local rules regulations and standards.

Work Schedule: This position will respond to after-hours emergencies and service impacts as part of an on-call rotation.


This is a special at-will position funded by an FTA grant received by Transit annually.


As a Transit Program Administrator I you will:

  • Provide contract compliance monitor key performance indicators track and assess liquidated damages process and administer invoicing and ensure Mountain Metropolitan Transits Policies and Procedures are being followed.
  • Create update and present key performance indicator reports for staff management and outside agencies.
  • Utilize analytical data key performance indicators and expertise to provide recommendations for service improvements.
  • Monitor complaints and inquiries; respond where appropriate and ensure contractors correct issues.
  • Review and respond to contractor incidents and safety and security reports; follow up with contractors on corrective actions.
  • Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for transit projects.
  • Develop and maintain project budget and financial information; monitor and track expenditures to ensure compliance within program budgets.
  • Demonstrate expertise and provide technical support in the application of Federal State and Local rules and requirements.
  • Respond as needed to after-hours emergencies and service impacts as part of an on-call rotation.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of program development implementation and management
  • Procedures methods and techniques of budget preparation and control
  • Pertinent federal state and local laws codes and regulations
  • Methods and techniques of data collection
  • Modern office technology and software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Power Point and Outlook)

Ability to:

  • Recommend and implement goals and objectives for service delivery
  • Evaluate and develop programs that meet community needs
  • Ensure program compliance with mandated policies procedures rules and regulations
  • Prepare and administer assigned program budgets
  • Use independent judgment to make reasonable decisions and recommendations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees contractors and community groups

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration business administration community development social sciences or other related field
  • One year of full-time professional program administration experience
