Job Title: Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist Physical Therapy Company: OrthoUnited Department: Revenue Cycle / Billing Position Overview OrthoUnited is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our growing outpatient physical therapy team. This role is responsible for managing insurance and patient accounts ensuring timely payment posting and actively working outstanding AR to maximize reimbursement. The ideal candidate is proactive organized and experienced in medical billing and collections - preferably within physical therapy or outpatient healthcare settings. Key Responsibilities - Post insurance and patient payments accurately and timely
- Work assigned AR queues including follow-up on unpaid or underpaid claims
- Investigate and resolve claim denials rejections and discrepancies
- Submit corrected claims and appeals as needed
- Collaborate with internal teams (billing front desk clinic staff) to correct claim errors
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines and company policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of all account activity
Qualifications - 13 years of medical billing and AR experience (physical therapy preferred)
- Strong understanding of insurance claims EOBs and AR follow-up
- Knowledge of CPT codes and basic reimbursement processes
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Experience - Outpatient physical therapy or rehab billing experience
- Experience working with commercial Medicare Medicaid and workers comp claims
