About the role

As a Residential Care Worker in our Supported Indepent Living and Residential Services Program youll play a central role in providing safe structured and trauma-informed care for children and young people in our care. Working across our Interim and Therapeutic Care Services Youll be part of a team that ensure daily routines therapeutic plans and wellbeing practices are consistently implemented helping our children and young people feel secure supported and valued.

What youll do

No two days are the same and thats what makes this role rewarding. As a Residential Care Worker youll:

Provide day-to-day care guidance and emotional support to young people in a safe and nurturing home environment.

Use trauma-informed strengths-based practices to help young people heal and build resilience.

Support the development of independent living skills such as cooking budgeting self-care and healthy routines.

Assist young people to connect with education and their community.

Act as a positive role model demonstrating empathy respect and appropriate boundaries.

Collaborate with caseworkers therapists and other professionals to deliver holistic care and achieve individual goals.

Maintain clear and accurate documentation including shift reports incident notes and case summaries.

Transport young people to appointments school or recreational activities.

Your roster

This position operates on a four-week rotating roster averaging around 55 hours per fortnight with a balance of day evening weekend and sleepover shifts.

You must be able to commit to a consistent shift-work pattern that includes sleepovers ensuring stability and routine for the young people in our care.

Always double-staffed with sleepovers being the only solo component.

A fair and balanced rotation designed to share weekends and sleepovers evenly across the team.

Reliable and consistent rostering youll know your shifts well in advance.

Worklife balance built in with consistent days off and recovery time between shifts.

Penalty rates and sleepover allowances in line with the SCHADS Award.

Essential Criteria:

A minimum Certificate IV in Community Services Youth Work or a related field (Diploma or Degree highly regarded).

Experience working with children and young people with complex needs.

A sound understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care approaches.

Excellent communication teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Current Drivers Licence First Aid and CPR and a Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
