The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking qualified Registered Behavior Technicians.

The position will implements behavior intervention plans that support students with behavioral and social-emotional needs on a school site including the classroom small groups and 1:1 settings.

Current vacancies are located in Los Padrinos (7285 Quill Dr Downey CA 90242) and Camp Kilpatrick (427 Encinal Canyon Rd Malibu CA 90265). However the resulting eligibility list may be used to fill any vacancies located at other sites.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:
  • Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and services
  • Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Technicians
  • Basic theories concepts and interventions of behavioral/social-emotional disorders
  • Data collection techniques and tools
  • Standard and instructional computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Suites Google Drive and Aeries)
  • Crisis management techniques

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:Graduation from high school or equivalent. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board is required.

Experience:Three years of experience providing behavioral intervention and management services to children with emotional disability or behavioral challenges in a school setting.

Additional Requirements:Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) is desired. May require a valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites. May be required to drive between sites.

Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a written exam and structured interview.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive examination process. Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list. Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277.5). In addition the eligibility list resulting from this examination may be used to fill vacancies in related job classifications for which no eligibility list exists (Education Code 45272). Veterans Credit may be awarded for entry jobs.
