Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision the EVS Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating inpatient bed cleaning requests across BNBMC to support timely patient flow.
- This position monitors bed status systems receives and prioritizes cleaning requests and dispatches EVS staff efficiently to ensure beds move promptly from discharge to clean and ready
- The role maintains awareness of unit activity anticipated surges in demand and staffing availability to adjust priorities in real time
- The EVS Dispatcher is the central coordination point between ACCESS and Nursing to relay bed readiness updates and promptly escalate delays or barriers affecting bed availability
- This position also tracks and reviews metrics such as response times and delayed cleans and assists in identifying patterns that may require workflow adjustments
- The EVS Dispatcher supports daily operations by ensuring accurate documentation consistent communication and smooth coordination between EVS teams and hospital departments
- Familiarity with inpatient workflows including discharge processes and bed readiness
- Experience monitoring dashboards tracking performance metrics and identifying delays or bottlenecks
- Coordinates the flow requests for patient transportation.
- Effectively utilizes computer on all calls and requests. Demonstrates proper use of the patient transport tracking system/log sheets.
- Prioritize requests and changes to ensure timely response.
- Monitors employee performance such as customer delays employee lunch breaks and completion of daily assignments.
- Transports equipment and supplies by picking up requisitioned orders then delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas
- Assists all users with the EPIC Patient Tracking System.
- Transports patients by assisting/lifting patients on and off beds moving them to and from special service and treatment areas and operating rooms using wheelchairs stretchers or moveable beds.
- Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules.
- Updates job knowledge and participates in continuous training.
- Collects transport equipment and returns it to the appropriate storage area.
- Utilizes proper safe patient handling techniques.
- Maintains safe clean and neat work environment by following standards and procedures.
- Maintains strict confidentiality related to work information (in accordance with HIPAA).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to work legally in the United States.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced time-sensitive environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Proficiency with hospital information systems including bed management tracking or dispatch platforms. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Able to speak read and write English fluently.
- Successful completion Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Passion for customer service and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to run walk and sit for a long period of time
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds frequently over considerable distance.
- Requires full range of motion.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and/or extended hours is sometimes required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EVS operations bed turnaround coordination or centralized dispatch functions.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in hospital operations bed management patient flow or a high-volume coordination/dispatch role
Salary Commensurate with Experience within posted range:
$45000 to $61000 annually
