Pay rate: $45 per hour
Position Overview
We are looking for an energetic patient and knowledgeable Algebra Teacher to join our summer enrichment team. This role isnt just about solving equations;its about preventing summer slide and helping students build the confidence they need to succeed in the upcoming academic year. Whether youre teaching foundational pre-algebra concepts or advanced quadratic functions your goal is to make math accessible relevant anddare we sayfun.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Delivery: Lead daily Algebra lessons covering core topics such as linear equations inequalities graphing systems of equations and polynomials.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Tailor existing curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with varying skill levels ensuring both remediation and acceleration are possible.
- Active Learning: Move beyond the whiteboard. Incorporate hands-on activities math games and collaborative problem-solving to keep energy high during the summer.
- Progress Monitoring: Conduct low-stakes assessments to ensurestudent understanding and knowledgeencouraging feedback and preparation for the upcoming year.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive inclusive and focused learning environment that respects the summer atmosphere while prioritizing academic growth.
Required Qualifications
- Education:Bachelors degree in mathematics Education or a related field.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of Algebra I and II standards ability to provide foundational skills to students.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to connect with middle and high school students and communicate progress effectively to parents/guardians.
Desired Attributes
- Adaptability: Ability to pivot lesson plans based on student engagement and aha! moments.
- Patience: A genuine desire to help students who may struggle with math anxiety.
- Creativity: Skill in finding real-world applications for algebraic concepts (e.g. using slope to talk about sports stats or architecture).
