About the Role:
The Publisher is responsible for the strategic day to day management of a portfolio of Open Access engineering journals. You will manage and develop relationships with external journal editors while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders networking in the community to identify opportunities for growth. Additionally you will formulate plans for the publishing portfolio and participate in global strategic development of publishing activities and select projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with external partners including society executives and society-based managing editors academic editors and editorial boards with the aim of building and maintaining the journals reputation and quality;
- Active management of existing journal editors and when necessary and in collaboration with society based managing editors development of succession plans to optimize editorial structures and teams as required;
- Usingscientific expertise knowledge of data reporting tools and academic network strategically develop the portfolio and represent Wiley within the engineering community;
- Managing overall journal pipeline and performance;
- Constant community outreach (virtual and in-person) to enhance personal network; commissioning journal and Wiley visibility understanding of the subject and community;
- Identifyopportunities to drive growth byoptimizingthe current editorial model;
- Collaborate closely withcolleaguestodriveinitiatives that drivequalityefficiencyand productivity.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree;
- At least 3-4 years of experience in academic or scholarly publishing;
- Strong awareness of trends in research and scholarly publishing with the ability to apply them to a publishing portfolio;
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex high-value journal portfolio;
- Strong judgment and experience in driving improvements to journals/program performance;
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus and secure buy-in from editors editorial boards and society partners to align titles with strategic priorities;
- Strong collaboration skills with proven ability to work across departments and build productive working relationships;
- Ability to work independently with strong self-management skills;
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to create and deliver impactful presentations that influence outcomes and support team objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of major industry trends and how theyimpactscholarly publishing with the ability to communicate and apply insights strategically within a portfolio;
- Experience developingnew ideasand initiatives based on market and industry trends;
- Prior experience influencing editorial strategy in partnership with societies or editorial boards.

We are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
