Position Summary:
The Materials Manageris responsible foroverseeing all Government/Customer Furnished Materials (GFM/CFM) and companyprocuredmaterials operations within the shipyard environment. This role ensuresaccuratereceipt inventory control storage distribution and accountability of government/customer-owned materials and equipment supporting ship repair maintenance and new construction projects. The Materials Manager supervises warehouse and material control personnel while ensuring compliance with government regulations contractual requirements and company policies.
The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with experience in shipyardlogistics inventory management and team leadership in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned.
Manage all aspects of Government/Customer Furnished Materials (GFM/CFM) operations including receiving tracking issuing storage and disposition of materials and equipment.
Attend weekly meetings
Supervise train schedule and evaluate warehouse inventory and material handling personnel.
Ensure compliance with all federal regulations contractual obligations and company procedures related to government/customer property management.
Maintainaccurateinventory records using ERP/MRP or other company approved software and government/customer tracking systems.
Coordinate material flow to support ship repair overhaul maintenance and construction schedules.
Monitor material availability and work closely with purchasing project management production and government/customer representatives to prevent delays.
Conduct cycle counts audits and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracy and accountability.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies shortages damaged materials and shipping/receiving issues.
Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency reduce waste and improve inventory control.
Ensure proper storage handling preservation and security of government/customer-owned property and sensitive materials.
Prepare reports and documentation related to inventory status material usage audits and compliance requirements.
Maintain a safe work environment and enforce all OSHA shipyard and company safety policies.
Support internal and external audits related to government/customer property and materials management.
Coordinate transportation receiving and distribution activities with internal departments and external vendors.
Manage staffing levels and labor utilization to support operational demands and project schedules.
Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GEDrequired;Associates or bachelorsdegree in supply chain Logistics Business Management or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management warehouse operations orlogisticswithin a shipyard maritimemanufacturingor defense environment.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
Experience managing Government Furnished Materials (GFM) or government property preferred.
Working knowledge of government property management regulations and inventory accountability standards.
Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience supporting Navy Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government contracts.
Familiarity with NAVSEA or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) requirements.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Working Conditions:
Mustpossessmobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment and be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from office.
Mobility to climb up and down stairs as needed.
Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to50 pounds occasionally.
Operate in a shipyard warehouse and industrial setting with exposure to heavy equipment machinery noise and varying environmental conditions.
Ability to stand walk bend climb and work in warehouse and shipyard environments for extended periods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Necessary Equipment Operation:
Office equipment including telephone fax machine scanner computer printer.
Various typers offorklifts.
