Resident Engineer (Water Resources)

• Supervises construction activities from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through project close-out ensuring timely completion and adherence to contract documents specifications and accepted engineering practices on public infrastructure projects;
• Oversees field construction within project limits to confirm compliance with contract requirements and applicable codes;
• Manages and provides leadership to field inspection staff on infrastructure construction projects;
• Coordinates and directs all phases of construction inspection independently on water and wastewater infrastructure projects;
• Reviews and adjusts daily contractor work schedules in response to site conditions or project changes ensuring optimal productivity and alignment with project milestones;
• Prepares reviews and certifies contractor pay applications including verification of quantities and development of supporting documentation in accordance with project controls;
• Document contractor performance and enforces company and client policies including recognition of exceptional work and documentation of any disciplinary issues;
• Monitors contractor safety programs for compliance with site-specific and regulatory safety standards and takes necessary action to correct unsafe practices;
• Issues change orders field orders and memos to modify contract items as needed based on site conditions or as-built quantity calculations in coordination with the project team;
• Collaborate frequently with Project Managers client representatives and city officials to communicate scope changes track quantity adjustments and manage impacts to the construction schedule;
• All related duties as required to ensure the successful completion of assigned infrastructure projects.

• Valid Professional Engineering License in the State of New York with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or similar;
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management including heavy civil and infrastructure projects with demonstrated experience in estimating bidding scheduling and field engineering;
• Experience as Resident Engineer managing heavy infrastructure projects and familiarity with NYCDEP procedures processes and project delivery standards preferred;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) Bluebeam estimating and scheduling software and web-based document collaboration tools required;
• Ability to understand and interpret written specifications plans and construction documents for work orders and build documents
• Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients supervisors and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results;
• A valid clean drivers license and personal vehicle to travel to job sites is preferred.

• Move around on the job-site including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment usually for prolonged periods of time
• Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections
• Good visual skills including focused depth perception and
• Regular daily operations of a motor-vehicle or use of public transportation which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
